New figures show that the nuclear industry now supports 3,500 jobs in Bristol, as the sector expands to support new nuclear construction.
At Hinkley Point C, EDF are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity.
The project is a joint effort by EDF Energy (which owns 66.5% of the project) and the China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) (which owns 33.5%). Once completed, Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity for approximately 6 million homes over a 60-year period.
