Thermal Insulation Engineers are responsible for carrying out insulation duties and tasks competently and safely in accordance with training, skills and the specification as instructed and directed by supervision.
They must have a basic understanding and knowledge of thermal insulation activities, both theoretically and practically.
Job Responsibilities
- Working against insulation standards and specifications to comply with the assessment and plan of work
- Install insulation and materials, using clips, adhesives and tapes to fit them into place
- The ability to understand method statements and risk assessments to carryout tasks safely.
- To demonstrate the ability to select the correct Insulation materials and finishes relevant to various applications and changing operational environments.
- Knowledge of the use of tools and equipment and to ensure they are correctly maintained.
- Identify and escalate any significant risks to health and safety and report risks and any defects to the Supervisor and safety teams.
- The ability to remove and Insulation materials and finishes and re-apply in conjunction with the current industry standards (BS:5970:2012),and in compliance with the client procedures and specifications.
- The ability to undertake instruction from the Supervisor and act with professionalism.
- Stripping and refitting
- Metalwork forming and fitting
- Measure and fabricate cladding
- Understand the Health and Safety policy, and ensure the policy is adhered to by all
- Demonstrate effective communication, actively participating with pre-job briefings.
- Monitor and maintain good housekeeping, ensuring work areas are kept tidy.
- Report any Accidents, Incidents and Near misses to the Site Supervisor or Site Manager immediately.
Minimum Qualifications/ Experience
- Time served in thermal insulation engineering
- Experience of Internal Structural insulation, pipework, equipment, & HVAC on Submarines
- Safety Passport
- TICA Card
