Czechia’s largest utility selects Amentum for small modular reactor program

Czechia’s largest energy utility, has selected Amentum (NYSE: AMTM) to support its new nuclear program by advancing plans for two small modular reactors (SMRs).

Amentum’s Brno-based nuclear and project management specialists will deliver environmental impact assessment (EIA) reports relating to proposals for Rolls-Royce SMRs on sites at Temelin, home to an operating gigawatt nuclear station, and Tušimice, a coal-fired power station which is due for decommissioning.

The UK Government has confirmed the West Burton power station site in North Nottinghamshire will be home to the ground-breaking STEP prototype fusion energy plant.

The Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) plant will be designed and constructed to demonstrate the ability to put net electricity on the grid. It will also pave the way to enable future commercial fusion energy plants to be commissioned and constructed.
