The role of a Piping Designer is to take ownership and responsibility for the execution of all assigned work and deliver fit for purpose, practical Engineering design in line with specification, budget and programme.
The role holder will also support and promote all company and client site directives – HSEQ, best practice, innovations, continual improvement, development and retain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders. Your responsibility will also include maintaining up to date knowledge and competence to support the role and to align to client’s and industries’ requirements and directives
- Produce new and update existing detailed mechanical design documentation; typically - Piping isometrics, fabrication drawings, routing layouts, assembly drawings, GAs, 3D models, piping schedules, line lists, valve schedules, bills of material (BOMs), calculation records, etc.
- Comply with both national and site standards
- Carry out site surveys, which may involve working at height
- Conduct necessary fieldwork walk downs of current systems, locate tie-ins and site measure
- Perform and support constructability reviews to ensure design accommodates the most practical fabrication, installation, and maintenance i.e. site weld positions, datum points, etc
- Update and maintain plant drawings as per the Management of change (MOC) process
- Compile document work packs
- Identify, evaluate, and resolve problems
- Discuss all pertinent issues with the relevant stakeholders
- Ensure all work is completed in a diligent and professional manner
- Comply with company and site procedures; typically – Engineering design, project control, documentation control, procurement, verification
- Support other activities; typically – estimating, hand-over, procurement
