Commercial Analysts are responsible for leading the development and oversight of commercial standards, systems, and continuous improvement activities, ensuring that government standards and industry best practice are adopted to facilitate effective and consistent commercial delivery.

They also undertake the accurate and timely collection, analysis, and reporting of commercial data and management information across the full range of commercial activities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct analysis, provide insights and reporting that informs key commercial decisions across NWS using data from a suite of commercial systems and P2P.
  • Collate information as required to satisfy all reporting requirements.
  • Facilitation of systems and tools to capture and maintain accurate, available, and secure commercial information. Maintain an awareness and understanding of internal and external commercial reporting expectations, risk appetite, and NWS’s business priorities and decisions to ensure that the sources of data remain useful and fit for purpose.
  • Monitor data integrity in the commercial systems, and swiftly handling the resolution of issues.
  • Develop our reporting capabilities, particularly in the development of commercial dashboards.
  • Supporting commercial systems functionality and scope such as pipeline management, contract register and supplier intelligence/resilience.
  • Develops and maintains a robust framework of good governance and control.


Experience Required

  • ​Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Powerpoint and Word.
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Excel including the ability to use Pivot tables.
  • Ability to quickly learn and work with new systems and processes.
  • Previous demonstrable experience of working in an analytical role.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a challenging workload of competing priorities.
  • Good stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage and influence others.
