The role of a Coatings Technical Manager is to provide guidance and expert support to coatings and multi discipline teams.
Coatings Technical Managers function in a semi-autonomous capacity, focussed on providing guidance and expert support to coatings and multi discipline teams (Project Managers, Technical Leads, Quality Leads etc.) delivering across the Project.
The role holder will also report to and support the Paint Topic Group, which is used for discussion and convergence on topics, decision making, and to link in with Project governance.
Job Responsibilities
- Acting in a Delivery-facing capacity as a focal point for the investigation and progression of paints and coatings topics, providing a source of expertise and a focal point for escalation out of ‘normal business’;
- To support where necessary the project Coatings Chair in preparing and running the Paint Topic Group, with activities including preparations of agendas and maintenance of the Topic Tracker etc.;
- To provide assessments and recommendations to the site teams and the Paint Topic Group, to support the Project in arbitrating and taking confident decisions;
- To autonomously perform investigations on broader issues, including entering discussions with Contractors, paint vendors, and technical expert groups to resolve more complex issues when required.
- In addition to the above responsibilities, the Technical Manager may be required to work collaboratively as part of larger action plans related to strategic and high-impact elements of paint strategy.
Qualifications Required
- Demonstratable knowledge of Coatings standards and Regulatory procedures
- Excellent (Advanced) IT Literate skills (Competent) - (predominantly MS Office & Adobe Pro etc.), Document control and use of collaborative shared platforms / B.C / TeamCenter, (Viewpoint (4P), Sharepoint and CEMAR)
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively within a large team
- Following process and achieving readiness;
- Ability to understand and retain knowledge
- Experience of working in a heavily regulated and secure environment
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and produce accurate work.
- Must be methodical and process driven
- Generates high quality output of documents such as management plans
- Familiarisation with ISO9001:2015 and quality management
- To be innovative by identifying and implementing new ways to do things to achieve better ways of working.
