The role of a Coating Product Buyer is to analyse the site team requirements to deliver coatings on-time and cost-effectively.
Coating Product Buyers analyse site team requirements and needs, liaise with wider procurement team and main suppliers to deliver on-time and cost-effectively.
- Assist delivery team in product selection according to construction constraints and best for project strategy
- Create documentation required for procurement and quality follow-up of coating products
- Liaise with material controller and delivery leads to inform trackers and operations
- Maintain, communicate, and update Risk register for this activity
- Coordinate the training of the workforce according to the specification for coating works through the training supply chain
- Manage request for qualification – manage relationship with 3rd party labs, qualification of product processes etc.
- No budgetary accountability, but responsible for assuring no commitments made outside authority.
- Other support to delivery of the Programme objectives as identified by PM and others.
- Support the development of Joint Management Team and collaborative working to reinforce working behaviours against agreed principles and objectives.
Experience Required
- 2+ years’ Experience in managing Coating scope, technical knowledge of Coating Products and Systems preferable and with purchasing knowledge
- Professional Qualification level – Degree / NVQ3 or equivalent
- Nuclear experience a priority
- Communication skills – First class communication and presentation skills.
- Results orientation – Understanding the required results and focusing to achieve them.
- Self-Driven and resilience – Determination to succeed in situations and adapt effectively to new situations.
- Planning and organisation – Working in a structured and thoughtful way whilst demonstrating initiative.
- Teamwork – Working closely with colleagues to achieve a common goal.
- PM career path, but willing to learn and apply project management and organisational skills, which has been gained through practical experience.
- Good written and oral skills, basic IT literacy, able to communicate effectively.
- Comfortable of Independent working to a high attention to detail.
Additional Qualifications
- Procurement experience at an Industrial level
- Experience working in high integrity, regulated industries necessary.
- Commercial awareness and cost control exposure very much desirable though not essential.
- Working knowledge of construction activity and interface management
